Club Surrender — A Canon Confession
Performed by Pete Prayer as Dooms Drafter
“Club Surrender” (also known as Ruby) is a canon confession of sorts—however cleverly staged by Funky John and the cast for Pete Prayer’s role as Dooms Drafter in Players & Pearls at Club Surrender, Season 1 of Storytime with Lady. Fusing trap with cabaret, the performance breathes new life into radio theater and musical storytelling for a new generation of noir fans.
In this moment, Pete’s voice becomes a warning, a prophecy, and a theatrical threat. His performance leaves Detective Jimmy imagining the worst fate for Ruby, the missing lead singer whose absence haunts every velvet corner of Club Surrender.
