Workforce development
Young Adult Producers Program
Hires and trains college-aged and recently graduated young adults in professional production environments — audio, video, stage, and digital production under industry professionals. Final projects are largely young-adult led, closing with a resume upgrade and portfolio-ready work.

Historical Oratorical
A narrative-justice initiative that blends performance, research, and public oration to help youth and adults with lived foster-care experience reclaim historical narratives, explore identity, and develop powerful communication skills. This program supports confidence-building, civic literacy, and creative expression through guided storytelling and spoken-word practice.

A Summer of WhoDunIt Workshop
The Summer WhoDunIt Workshop allows participants to use the HIP Noir Engine to create their own mystery. This program teaches narrative design, clue logic, character development, and noir storytelling. It is adoptable by theaters, churches, community centers, and special-interest groups who want to run their own mystery-writing or mystery-playing experience.
Adoption notes: This workshop is designed for flexible community use. Any group can adopt the curriculum and run a full mystery-creation cycle using the HIP Noir Engine.

Co-Creating a System Worthy of Its Children
Foster Child Safety, Accountability, and Family Preservation
For generations, more than 400,000 children in America’s foster care system have lived without the basic protections every child deserves. Too often, they are portrayed as troubled or broken — when in truth, they are children who have been failed by the very structures meant to protect them.
I know this because I grew up in foster care myself. From age one to eighteen, I lived inside a system where silence was the greatest danger. No phone. No hotline. No rights education. No safe way to report abuse. When a child has no voice, predators thrive.
This petition calls for the passage of the Foster Child Safety, Accountability, and Family Preservation Act — legislation designed to give foster youth the tools, protections, and rights they have always deserved.
Key Reforms
- Give every foster child a simple, memorable way to call for help
- Ensure youth have access to communication, not isolation
- Require independent safety checks of foster homes
- Teach young people their rights and how to use them
- Strengthen family-based placement options
- Establish a clear, enforceable Foster Child Bill of Rights

Like other entities in the world, Voices of Foster Care has moved into Coffy Town — holding an office in the Coffy Town Community Center in the Creative Commons District. The lore that connects us runs back to the Writer’s humble beginnings in foster care in Alameda County, California, as described in Storytime with Lady — Elderberries in the Vine and in the songs Saturday Mournings and My Manic Mother. Elderberries is an activity book: download it, print it, and color it however you choose.
